We are all part of Mother Earth, no matter how disconnected we allow ourselves to become.
One of the most powerful practices I have found to quiet anxiety, clear my mind or my energy, unwind after a stressful day (or moment of a day)… is to put my bare feet in the grass or dirt, sand or water (outside specifically - lakes, rivers, streams, puddles, ocean) and take a few deep breaths.
Or meditate there.
Or roll in it.
Germ-a-phobe? Put your hands on a tree, touch a leaf, pet the petals of a flower.
This all, I believe, applies to every human being.
It’s the best way to stop DOING and start BEING, and get back to thriving.
This is not just a theory, either. The electrical current in our body increases, measurably, when we are barefoot on the earth. It can be read by a sensor. Think of it like plugging in to your power source, and recharging.
Now, for those of us with ADHD, we tend to get stuck in our crazy, 20-trains-in-the-station-at-once heads, and forget we’re human.
We have needs, even when we aren’t passionate about them…
