Mommy Mindfulness Moment

This one's for all the Mama's who never get a minute to breathe.

This ‘track’ was requested by a mom, and I don’t think it’s just for the neurodiverse mamas.

This track is short for a reason, and if you’re a mom, you know why. In it, I walk you through a round of many different things you can do in under a minute that can help you regulate your nervous system…

…so you can hold up everything for the kids (and often your partner).

…so you can be the co-regulator for them.

…so you can remember the next most important thing.

…so you can remember that you’re a human being with needs too.

…so you can remember that you matter.

And, that I love you. I see you. I witness you, even if I haven’t met you - you are not alone in how hard it is.

So this one’s for you, Mama. I hope it helps. I recommend picking one or two of these that hit you just right and making them a consistent practice in the few seconds here, or one minute there. Because, I know. You don’t even always have five minutes.

(Know another Mama who needs this? Send it her way!)

Also… I truly have hidden in the car, in the pantry, in my bedroom closet, in the linen closet, out in the garage, even just around a corner without responding to take a few breaths…

I feel zero guilt for that, and neither should you.

Mindfulness helps make you a better mom. Never apologize for taking a moment to practice it.

XO

P.S. releasing this one on my son’s birthday, because HE… oh he is the ONE.

You know?

The one who needs the most, the one in the most danger 24/7, my Viking berserker, the one who can’t sleep - the one who had colic and didn’t sleep for a year, goes to bed the latest, wakes up the earliest - , the one whose tears break me the most, the one who I receive calls and messages about ‘problems’ for the most, the one I’ll go to bat for every day forever, the one I butt heads with the most while contagiously laughing each other silly, the one I connect the most deeply with in many ways, the one who… well, the one who made motherhood actually hard. And, the one who made me so much stronger than I ever knew was possible.

I love you, bubba. (And I’m so grateful you learned the value of alone time for you, so I could have some, too. AND, strangely enough, I miss you every time you’re quiet.)

Do you have that ONE? Tell us about him/her in the comments! Motherhood wasn’t meant to be a lonely path. Let’s rebuild the village we all so desperately need. Being heard and seen for your struggles is a healing step you are safe to take here. It’s a no-judgement zone.
